If you’re serious about getting tons of traffic from the search engines, there is one thing that is core to the concept of getting free traffic from Google, MSN and Yahoo… Keyword research!
Choosing the right keywords to optimise your website for is absolutely essential.
It’s no good adding high traffic, high competition keywords to your website as you will never rank for them, unless you have a high budget and can afford to spend thousands of dollars on SEO and getting backlinks.
A much better tactic, and one we have used to much success here at Information Empire, is to find out what keywords are related to our topic, find out how many people are searching for each keyword, then find out how much competition there is for that term.
By filtering this list down, we can focus on a core list of keywords that we know we will get traffic from with the minimal of effort.
There are many manual – and time intensive – ways of creating these lists, but for the past couple of years we have used a great service from Jim Morris called Nichebot – and this tool has saved us hundreds of hours of manual work and made us great profits as we always know what keywords to target in our SEO efforts.
